Review

See the Review Rating Overview page for more information on how I rate each comic

Cover & Solicit 4/5

This issues cover is by the one and only Stjepan Sejic (Witchblade, Cyber Force and Army of Darkness), who of course still provides the interior art and colors. The cover is Sejic's standard pin-up style and doesn't pertain to events in the issue.

Art, Colors & Inking 4/5

I have really enjoyed Sejic's art from this arc of the series and have nothing to complain about. His images are breathtaking and the colors are vibrant. Sejic also does does a great job with the facial expression and the little background details. If you want to see him at his best just check out any of the double-page spreads throughout this issue.

Layout & Flow 4/5

The flow of this issue was very good as usual you can see that Hawkins and Sejic are working well together. This issue picks up the pace and secrets are revealed. I feel it may have been a little rushed as the events seem to jump from one to the other. While not bad I would have liked a little bit more. The issue also makes it seem that the original mini-series is still in continuity, and that was a little hard to follow as I can't see how it fits unless we are missing part of the story and will get the answers later in either Aphrodite IX/Cyber Force or IXth Generation. This issues Science Class section was probably the one I had been looking forward to as it starts to really explain what I've been curious of and that's the Aphrodite Protocols and how they interrelate with Cyber Force.

Story 5/5

Matt Hawkins (Cyber Force, Avengelyne, Think Tank) has done an excellent job of telling the story and building on this future world that ties into Silvestri's Cyber Force volume. This issue is the finally of both the series and this arc. Hawkins starts with events taking place slightly after Aphrodite being rescued by Ares in last issue. It seems that Aphrodite has is more of a mess than the other IX's thought and Hades sends her to talk to Mother to learn about her past. As it turns out Mother is a familiar face (I won't tell you who) and explains the plans of the original mother and chairwoman of CDI. It seems she not only wanted to make sure there was a future they could control but implanted herself into Aphrodite so she would be able to take over her body in the future, but it seems Burch's interference in the now infamous Aphrodite IX Volume 1. I liked how Hawkins tied into the original series even if I have questions about the timeline and how things are going to relate with the current Cyber Force and Aphrodite IX series. Next Matt shows us the epic final battle of the Gens and Speros. The attack on Speros City is in full swing and Aphrodite feels responsible and journeys to Earth to stop Marcus from committing genocide and killing everyone and everything in Speros City. I don't want to ruin anything I will just leave you with the phrase "The Meek Shall Inherit The Earth".

Verdict - 4.4 (9/10) (Buy Aphrodite IXSAVE 10%

So the epic finally of Hawkins and Sejic's Aphrodite IX is here and you need to read it. This team has been great throughout and this issue just exemplifies that. This issue ties up some of the loose ends from the series and explains elements of the Aphrodite Protocols that are essential to the universe Hawkins and Silvestri are building in both Cyber Force, Aphrodite IX, the upcoming crossover Aphrodite IX/Cyber Force and the next Aphrodite volume IXth Generation. If you haven't been reading either series you should be, and make sure you add both Aphrodite IX/Cyber Force and IXth Generation to your pull-list, you won't regret it.
