Pick Your Pickle and Prepare for Puns: Pickleball's Board Game Just Launched.

A fast, fun, irreverent board game that celebrates the joy of Pickleball.

Fans of silly puns, pickles, and fast-paced games alike have a new game to add to their list of must-haves: HotShot Pickleball. This delightful card-drawing board game is quick to learn and gives a surprising amount of opportunity to lightly strategize as you race to the ball and attempt to hit it back over the net to your opponent.

The debut release from indie studio Midnight Trading Co., HotShot Pickleball was made while game designer Robert Gelb was recovering from an Achilles injury sustained, ironically, by playing Pickleball.

For those who haven’t heard of pickleball, it's the fastest-growing sport in the world, with over 32 million players last year. HotShot Pickleball is a lively, family-friendly game that combines the fun of the sport with a cast of quirky, pickle-themed characters like Stew Cumber, Kim Chee, and Corni Shaun. The game’s humorous artwork, quick pace, and endless pickle puns have already made it a favorite on the UK game convention circuit for those who enjoy fast, lighthearted games.

Gelb, HotShot Pickleball’s designer and Director of Midnight Trading Co., said:

"I wanted to celebrate the phenomenon that is the sport of pickleball in a fun board game that anyone could play, regardless if they've heard of the sport before. However, if you have played the real sport, you'll pick up on some fun references sprinkled throughout."

Working with artist Brad Slavin and creatives from Canada, the US, Scotland, and beyond, Gelb wanted to make sure the game felt true to the sport that has come to mean so much to people, especially those who are discovering how accessible it is to play.

HotShot Pickleball is played by first picking your pickle, then drawing a set of 'Rally' cards that help you move around the court and hit the ball back over the net. However, if you can't make a shot, or just want to walk on the wild side, there's the 'Long Shot' deck that invites you to push your luck.

The game takes 20 minutes to play, supports 1-4 players, and is designed for all ages and skill levels, making it the perfect addition to family game nights, gatherings with friends, or throwing in a bag for a road trip. With fast-paced rounds, easy-to-learn rules, and tons of replay value, HotShot Pickleball promises hours of fun and laughter.

The game is available for pre-order now on Kickstarter, with plans for broader retail distribution in the US, Canada, Europe, and Australia in the coming months.
